Christine O'Donnell is a farce. She is a radical, right-wing would-be pundit who has made running for office and appearing on obscure television talk-shows a career. But let's put that aside for a moment. This darling of the tea party is insulting and I take personal offense to her most recent public appearance. The first television advertisement of her newest campaign addresses the comments she made on Politically Incorrect several years ago.
"I am not a witch," says Christine. "I am nothing you've heard."
I am not an ad writer, and neither is the person who put together this spot for young, inexperienced and socially inadequate Christine O'Donnell.
Let's forget that the ad is poorly written and poorly performed. Let's forget that her tone of voice lends one to believe she finds the issue of witchcraft ridiculous. I won't mention that this tells me she's a drama queen who prefers to waste time dealing with unimportant issues. Well, issues she finds unimportant. Let's forget these things for one moment.
The fact of the matter is that she was never a witch. She went on a date with someone who may have been a witch, however by her description, was most likely a satanist. If she did, as she claimed on Politically Incorrect, "dabble in witchcraft", then she may have dabbled. Dabbling doesn't make one a witch.
I am a witch. A full-on cloak-wearing, drum-banging, spell-casting, potion-brewing witch. I have my own line of essential oils and tonics. I deal in herbs and spirituality from reading cards to numerology and Theta Healing. I live by the tenants of "Harm ye none." I have a sign on my front door that reads, "I have flying monkeys." I am a witch. And I'm proud of it.
Yet, Christine O'Donnell claims to be "me". Now, she might argue that she isn't speaking to me. Rather, she is speaking to citizens in her district. Those who may actually elect her to Washington. However, once she's actually in Washington, her job and the decisions she makes will effect the national arena. Therefore, she is in a position to effect all of us. Even us pesky old witches.
She has alienated an entire sect of the population. Those of us we practice witchcraft take it very seriously. The little hitch in Ms. O'Donnell's voice indicates that she doesn't take us seriously, or our religion, or our practice. What kind of woman is this? What kind of person can be so insulting and not even realize it?
What frightens me most about Christine O'Donnell isn't the fact that she is anti-masturbation, anti-anything-not-Christian, and might be guilty of campaign fund fraud. These things range from the sublime to the ridiculous, certainly. No. What concerns me is the Christine O'Donnell doesn't have a clue how the world actually works. And she is going to take her clueless self all the way to Capitol Hill.
Unless the people of her district do the right thing and send her back to her job at non-profits that spy on China.

The Zen Shoppe ~ New and Improved
This blog has a new name *pointing up*. Tilly's Tinctures and Tonics is no longer a sideline, but a full scale online store. The Zen Shoppe had originally been designed to carry items that did not compete directly with my misguided former employer, with the exception of Theta Healing and Essential Oils. We were not going to carry herbs for healing in capsure or tincture form. We were not going to carry books. We were not going to carry Flower Essences or Homeopathics, for instance.
Unfortunately, my misguided former employer (let's call her MFE, shall we?) decided to enter into a campaign of bigotry and intolerance which swept not only myself and my family, but my Pagan/Alternative family as well. She posted a note that read "You have done witchcraft. God has with drawn [sic] his support. The wolves shall overcome you." on the door of my sister's Sprint/Nextel store, which is located two doors away from MFE's natural health store in the same shopping center building. After a visit from my sister and a call to the police, MFE was banned from entering my sister's store, as was her husband.
Shortly there after, as The Zen Shoppe came together, another friend in our little clan wanted to find some raw Dandelion. Whether for ritual or health, I do not know, but she didn't want anything processed (for instance Nature's Way or Oregon's Wild Harvest capsules such as tho sold in MFE's store). So I mentioned on facebook that I could get that for her.
A couple of other friends also commented on the thread. Within a day or two, everyone who commented on that listing was "excluded" from MFE's busines. A couple of them were very good customer's. (Hence, the M in Misguided Former Employer.)
So, in order to satisfy the need for homeopathics, flower essence remedies and more... The Zen Shoppe was destined to offer these items. The blessing in that is they are also available to anyone who has a need.
We are not a huge corporation. We are a family owned business, with both Christian and Pagan influence. On the new site, you will find an incredibly wide range of items (we're still adding more every day) and the attention of more than a server. We process our orders by hand, just as we mix our oils and essences. If you have any questions, please feel free to email us.

Scare Away Nightmares with Amethyst Night-Ease
Earlier this summer, I worked with a young woman who as going through some heavy stuff. After just a few months of marriage, she was getting divorced. This brought with it a load of negativity that was manifesting as nightmares.
I suffered from several nights of horrifying dreams last spring, and developed an Amethyst Gem Essence dedicated to releasing them. Worked, literally, like a charm, so I mixed a blend for her as well.
As expected, her dreams released and she was able to sleep peacefully after spraying the mist on her pillow each night.
I'm now offering the blend of Amethyst (prepared with White water - pure natural spring water personally hand collected during a full moon) and Orange essential oil (which is an amazing cleanser) to you for only $35.00, including shipping. The 2 oz bottle lasts for weeks or months depending upon frequency of use, and while it is dedicated to dispelling negative dreams and nightmares, it is not personalized to individual energy -- so you can use it for the whole family!
To order Amethyst with Night-Ease, just click on the "Buy Now" button below to pay using Paypal. I check the Pay-Pal system daily for orders and your item ships within 24 hours. A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Future
by Micheal J. Fox
That's the name of his new book. Not sure how new, as I'm not sure whether Rachel Ray was a rerun this morning or a new broadcast. But I had a chance to see Micheal's interview this morning regarding this book. I can't wait to get a copy simply based on something he said during the interview. No matter how hard and studiously we plan for our futures, life's best times usually come out of something that wasn't planned. When we "go off the rails", as he said, we shouldn't try to 'fix' it. Let life happen. Learn and grow.
Considering that I recently lost my job due to some pretty fundamental differences between my employer and myself (religious views and my homosexuality among other things), I should be curled up in a ball wondering what the hell is going to happen to me. But I'm not. I look forward to life's next adventure. I'm reading cards, I'm wearing my hippie skirt to the salon today (something I wasn't allowed to wear at the natural health store where I worked... go figger), and I'm happy. I'm pain free, damn near, for the first time in years. I'm embracing whatever life has to offer me with open arms. Sure, the train of my world is off the rails right now, but the view is crazy beautiful.
This morning, my girl made me a most fabulous brekkie burrito, with fresh veggies and warmed up tortilla. We are sitting in our condo, and we only need 300 more dollars to make rent by the end of the month. We are calm, staring into each other's eyes and amazing at the deep love we share, no matter what. This is what life is about. Not punching a clock and counting the hours in exchange for a few bucks. The universe has a plan, a design, and the true secret to happiness, on the way to the future, is to work and play within that plan. Life is an adventure. It's high-flying, bungie jumping, roller-coaster advanced play. If you stay on the kiddie train, you're going to miss the view.
Today's special is Ache-Ease, a blend of Malachite and essential oils suspended in Grapeseed oil for achie muscles, sore joints and pain relief. Only $25.00 including shipping. (About 6 weeks supply, 1 oz bottle) Text Tilly at 801-472-6024 for more information.

Energetic Pain Relief Works Like Magick!
Recently, I put together a blend of Malachite (prepared in the indirect method so none of those nasty toxins in the spring water)with a few choice essential oils. I suspended the tincture in Grapeseed oil and I've been using it on my legs. I am nearly pain free and have taken to walking around town instead of driving my handicapped-tag equipped car!
I suffer from arthritis and Chronic Fatique Syndrome. The two do not like each other. For several years, I was all but bedridden. For the last few years, I've been relying on pharmaceutical pain killers so I could work and do what I needed to do since my divorce. I never took the full doses prescribed to me, as I like to remember what I do during the day, and I haven't been pain free in many, many years.
I haven't taken a pain killer in more than a couple of weeks and I feel GREAT. Do I still have some pain. Sure, but I just toss on a bit of the Ache-Ease blend I made and I'm good for the rest of the day, or night. I've even skipped days where I haven't felt the need to put any on.
I've used the essential oil blend in the past, alone (without the gem essence) and it just didn't do the same trick.
The point is, crystal have wonderful powers for healing, both emotionally, spiritualy and physically. Energy is life! Bend it! That's my motto and I live by every word.
Reiki is magick... the bending of energy. Prayer is magick... the bending of energy. Gem Magick is magick... the bending of energy. Spell casting is magick... the bending of energy.
I have an entire line of gem essences now, complete for pain relief, anger management, returning negativity to the universe as love and protection from negativity (great for nightmares if you or a child is suffering). Just email me at tilly196938@yahoo.com to ask me anything. Or even better: text me at 801-472-6024. If there is a gem or gem/oil combination that can help you, I'll find it. And I'm sure there is.
So, today's special is Ache-Ease... a blend of essential oils and Malachite suspended in Grapeseed Oil (if you don't like oil, I can make a spray on tincture for you that isn't greasy at all) for only $25.00 (shipping included). It's an oz. bottle and lasts at least a month (I've been using mine two-three weeks and I'm about half way through the bottle).
Text me today at 801-472-6024 for more information. I don't answer numbers I don't know so a text is the best way to reach me.

New Job, Prop 8, All Around Schtuff
Merry Meet,
I am no longer employed at the health food store where I used to work. I was let go for several reasons; including economic and while that should have been the most important reason given the economic times, it was not.
Let me explain. I was given the reason of (paraphrasing) "the energy created in the store while I was working, specifically alone, which was most of the time, generated a negative vibe that made the general public not want to come in and spend money."
I went on a week’s vacation and a young man, who was a friend of both mine and the store’s owner, covered for me. Sales were up significantly in the week he worked and I didn’t. This is a fact that cannot be ignored as I examine this particular phenomenon. However, the real reason that the vibe in the store made the "general public not want to come in and spend money" centered specifically on the fact that the owner is a very devout Mormon who couldn't understand or handle my sexuality (having "the gay" is a disease or an immoral choice after all, right?) or my chosen religion (being a witch means that angry mobs can burn you at the stake at any time and the christian bible says that perfectly okay, right?). Her energy, her blatant fear fed into a negative vibe in the store. She manifested daily that I would fail, and therefore it happened.
I am a witch. This is my spirituality of choice. I am not Wiccan. Wicca is a religion like any other and was created by a man named Gardener less than 100 years ago. I am simply a witch; a practitioner of the ‘Craft.
I am a lesbian woman in a committed family. I have my partner, and together we share 7 children, all either teens or grown and on their own. We have a granddaughter named Alice who lives in SoCal with her mother and our son is a wonderful father! We have a grandson, Marko, here in our town whom we see nearly everyday. We are a family.
I live a moderately healthy lifestyle, tho I’m not a nut about it. I eat fast food when I’m in a hurry, although I know it’s not good for me. I drink pop. I am one of those Pepsi junkies. I drink Tequila, wine and beer (mostly Tequila) when we go out dancing, or when we have a party with our friends.
These are the reasons my former employer gave for why my energy created a negative vibe in her store.
She laid me off for a week; an experiment of sorts. When I returned the following Tuesday, two days ago, I informed her that I could not continue working for her given that I can’t, and won’t, change who I am. She asked me to stay. She was pretty insistent. I told her I’d think about it, and later that day I ran into her husband and told him I’d be to work the next day to work for a two week period, at the end of which we could decide if it was working out for either of us. An hour later, I received a call from her rescinding her offer for me to stay and was laid off for lack of funds.
So be it.
The universe shall provide and I shall spend time each day here, sharing my knowledge and plying my wares with you wonderful, accepting and loving people.
I am into healing, sharing love and doing no harm. Karma is a wonderful Goddess-smack when you need her, and she is also one who reminds us that there is always tomorrow.
So on to better news. PROPOSITON 8 is overturned in California! Wow. If I had a workin’ car right now, I think Becky and I would have been on our way to SanFran … but alas, the stay. There is still a fight to be fought and won, but with enough people standing up for what is right, we shall prevail. I will marry my girl, legally, someday.
In the meantime, we are having a commitment ceremony in October. A good ol’ fashioned (and I mean old!) handfasting. We can’t wait.
Which brings me to my soapbox for the day. Commitment ceremonies. The LGBT community in many states are forced to declare their love in these “mock” weddings. They aren’t “fake”; merely not legally or civilly recognized. Because of this fact, it’s easy, for lack of the better word, to end the relationship. You don’t have to hire a lawyer. You don’t have to go to court. One person can simply move out of the house and it’s over, right? (I’ll get into the rights of non-custodial LGBT children in another entry. For the moment, let’s talk about those who don’t have children.)
So is it easier for LG couples to have one of these weddings? Should it be easier? I say no! I belong to several online lists and a woman posted that after 6 years together, she and her partner and finally had a commitment ceremony. In the same breath, she asked advice because her partner continually talks to her ex, and at a recent birthday party for the partner’s son, the partner had been relating to said ex in a manner that made the writer feel as though they were “more than friends”.
Why, in the name of the gods, did this woman enter into a commitment with this woman? Where is the trust? Was it to make a point? What point did it make other than to make a sham of the ceremony that SO many of us hold sacred? Now, I know that an LG couple is no more likely to have a successful marriage than a straight counterpart. However, we should be no more UNlikely either. Do you follow?
Just because it’s not legal does not make it a farce. The love is there. Or should be. The trust is there. Or should be. The VOWS are there. Or they should be.
So I implore you, my brothers and sisters in the LGBT community to take these ceremonies as sacred and binding; to prove to our naysayers that we deserve the consecration and equality they take for granted everyday. And take your fight to the street. Call your congressman. Join or form street teams to pound of doors and educate the common man, the voter, about who we are, who are families are. It isn’t fair that we must do this. But it wasn’t fair that African Americans had to fight for their rights, either. But they did it, and they are winning. Just ask our President, Mr. Obama.
That’s all for now. No products listed today. I don’t sell from the soapbox.
